I formed Fosstec in 2005 when I went freelance basing myself on a farm between Shepton Mallet and Wells. At the start I mainly subcontracted work from other garages taking on jobs that they could not do themselves or just overflow work in busy periods.
The business has steadily grown as has my customer base. The constant investment into equipment has allowed me to offer almost every aspect of vehicle repairs and maintenance.
I started as an apprentice at a garage that specialized in reconditioning gearboxes in 1989. Here I learnt a wide range of mechanical skills including mechanical repairs, engine reconditioning and fabrication. This was in conjunction with a three year City & Guilds college based training scheme at technician level. I earned myself two distinctions and three credits which combined with practical skills assessments I obtained my National Craftsman Certificate.
From here I moved to working in conjunction with roadside services such as the AA, RAC, Police etc carrying out recovery and assistance to road users. This is when I chose to develop my skills in electrical and diagnostic work bringing me to the front of the industry, building a good reputation with other service providers.
By 1997 my passion for the 4x4 world was born when I joined a local specialist. From here I stayed constantly building my knowledge and skills, moving forward with advancing technology in the electrical diagnosis and repair of modern vehicles. This was combined with training in the installation of autogas conversions of which I have carried out on many different types of vehicles, never being afraid of a challenge.
